About Texas Wall Street Women
Texas Wall Street Women (TXWSW) was formed to bring together women in the finance industry no matter which specific area they are in. Our members come from hedge funds, private equity and venture capital firms, mutual funds, public pensions, endowments, foundations, wealth management firms, investment banks, attorneys, accountants, and other money-management and service provider firms. We also welcome those individuals in government and non-profit entities in the financial industry as well as students that wish to pursue a career in finance and those looking to return to the industry.
TXWSW is an exclusive and inclusive non-profit peer network of professional women who are committed to developing and growing professionally, making a difference in our community, and supporting one another as we pursue our goals. We help our members achieve their goals through the programming and opportunities we provide in professional development, networking, and philanthropy.
Meet Your Presenter, Kelly
When I was six years old, my mom helped me open a savings account. As a structural engineer she loved math, and I’d like to think this was her way of encouraging me to have an interest in numbers too. My mom was a high-achieving professional, one of very few women in her field of work, and her example gave me a sense of empowerment around using money as a tool and forging a path to cultivate my own financial resources.
In college I decided to channel those early interests into receiving a degree in Finance from the University of Texas McCombs School of Business. From there I spent nearly 12 years at Dimensional Fund Advisors, a large asset manager whose long-term approach to investing relies on financial science instead of attempting to guess where markets are going next. Most recently I was a Regional Director and Vice President on the sales team and Lead Chair of the Women’s Inclusion Network for employees.

The Psychology of Intuitive Decision Making: Practical Strategies to Feel Grounded and Self-Assured Even When You Have No Idea What You Are Doing
Overview
Navigating family expectations and rigorous class work is hard enough for any college student but try being the only POC in the room or the first in your family to walk this particular path. What no one tells you is how often you will face new decisions, along with a head-spinning amount of outside opinions about who you should be and what you should do. You need a way to quiet the noise, calm the anxiety and turn inward to make choices that truly align with what’s best for you. In this class, we’ll leverage psychology and neuroscience to explore the four brainwave states, learn how to shift from an anxious state to the state where intuition resides, and begin to listen to your inner wisdom. Together, we’ll practice a simple three-step process to access your intuition and break down complex questions into manageable pieces. Join us and discover how to shed self-doubt and overwhelm and become one of the most radical things in our society- a woman who is self-assured.

Creating Healthy Boundaries
Overview
As young girls, you may have received certain messages when trying to express yourselves, your emotional needs, or otherwise assert yourselves. You learned quickly and adapted then. But why is it so hard now, as an adult, to say no? Ask for help? Or communicate essentially any needs?
Setting and maintaining boundaries is a critical part of self-care and life balance. They are unique and personal, like promises made to ourselves. Which is why they can be made and held with confidence – that you are taking care of yourself with every boundary that you maintain. In this session we will explore why holding boundaries feels so uncomfortable, the role that stereotypical gender roles play, and how to set and maintain them with intention.
